As part of the reforms to CDEP in 2009, we were invited by the Laynha Homelands Association Incorporated to work the senior members of 22 homelands to develop ‘Community Participation Profiles’ and ‘Community Action Plans’.
The work required several meetings at each community, conducted by CDU researchers familiar with the languages and the people of the many different small homeland centres.
We developed profiles and plans for Bälma, Barrkira, Bawaka, Bukudal, Bunhaŋur, Burrum, Buymarr, Dhäliny, Dhuruputjpi, Djarrakpi, Gängan, Garrthalala, Gurka’wuy, Gurrumuru, Gutjaŋan, Mirrŋatja, Raymaŋgirr, Rurraŋala, Wandawuy, Yalakun, Yäŋunbi, Yilpara, and Yuduyudu.
Working with the community elders we were able to develop plans which reflected the vision of the people for their country.
