Summary: This multi faceted project is an antecedent of the Indigenous Researchers Initiative (http://iri.cdu.edu.au/).  YACI consisted of a series of nine consultancy projects all carried out with Indigenous researchers as lead community based researchers. YACI sought to recognize changes in the location and nature of expertise in Australian governance, and develop opportunities for Indigenous people working within their own knowledge traditions, to contribute in policy negotiations and in devising solutions to social problems in remote Indigenous communities. The project encouraged the application of Indigenous forms of analysis as in the diagram of problem solving as pictured here in ‘Gularri Water”.
